Hollywood in Salem

Those who have been following this blog for a while, know that the Hawthorne's historic neighborhood also features a world-class museum called PEM. With an ever-changing exhibit list and an international appeal, the museum is certainly one of the top ones in the USA.

Over the past weeks, excitement built as the new Thomas Hart Benton & Hollywood exhibit at the PEM neared its opening day. Benton, an American painter and muralist, created epic narratives that captured the feel of motion in his work. The exhibit will remain on display at the PEM through September 7 and includes a mock-up of his studio, various illustrated books, as well as paintings and murals and is for sure one of the must-see events at the PEM for this year. Together with Stickwork, yet another home-run exhibit worth visiting, you can easily plan an artsy weekend-getaway in Salem.

P.s. And while in town, check-out Artists Row which has new tenants and expanded opening hours (11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday—and Thursdays until 7 p.m).

As always,

Hope to see you soon in Salem !

Regards,
