Poetry in Salem

Hawthorne sees a change.
Salem Common in full bloom,
Where is all that snow.

During the first weekend of May, Salem becomes the epicenter of poetry, as the Massachusetts Poetry Festival brings together a mix of readings, workshops, panels, and performances, featuring more than 150 poets and presenters from across the United States. It's just one of the many reasons to visit Salem year round, as every week brings new excitement to town.
The Hawthorne Hotel is hosting several sessions this weekend.
Poets gearing up for a sunny day on Salem's Pedestrian Mall
While the Poetry Festival is certainly a must-attend event, here is a highlight of some of the other upcoming events taking place in Salem:

  • Salem Jazz & Soul Festival - May 9
  • Thomas Hart Benton Exhibit at the PEM - June 6 to September 7
  • Salem Arts Festival - June 5-7
  • Salem Farmer's Market - June 12 (opening day)
  • North Shore Gay Pride Parade - June 20
  • A3D Salem Culture Fest - July 18-19
As you can see, there are plenty of reasons to stop by and stay at the Hawthorne Hotel. Hope to see you soon and enjoy the first sunshine of May!
