Why Rotary?

If you have been reading this blog for any length of time, you will already know several things.

1.  I am a loyal and avid Salem Rotarian.
2.  The Salem Rotary Club meets at the Hawthorne Hotel and has since its creation in 1918 (save a few years when the hotel was not available for meetings.)
3.  The Salem Rotary Club does good works in the community through various channels, including giving out tens of thousands of dollars in scholarships to Salem high school graduates each year.

So, why am I telling you all of this now?  Well, for three reasons.

1.  You may be a newcomer to our blog, and may not know any of this.

2.  You might want to party with us.   The Salem Rotary Club's annual fundraising dinner will take place at the Hawthorne Hotel on Friday, March 27 this year, and they plan to honor me at it -- as a way to make more money for scholarships I am sure.  So this is your "alert" to put that on your calendar as a "save the date" so we can party together!

2.  So you can learn more about Rotary, in case you are interested, perhaps in becoming a Rotarian.  This video was recently made by the Marblehead Rotary Club, and they did such a good job of explaining what Rotary is, and "Why Rotary?" that I thought you might enjoy it.  While it is about their Club, there are many similarities between what they do and what we do here in Salem.

Why Rotary? -- A Great Video

If you want to know more about becoming a Salem Rotarian, just post a response right here and I will get in touch with you.

I hope you enjoy all of this, and of course, I hope to see you here.
