Employee of the Year Awards, and Our Party

Each year around this time we host a party for the team members of the Hawthorne Hotel.  We usually go somewhere else, generally close to the hotel, for this party, so that as many of our staff members as possible can let down their hair a little and relax.

This year for the first time we went to Victoria Station for this event, and they treated us very nicely.  Thanks so much to Keith and the team of Vic's for taking such extra-special care of Team Hawthorne!
We appreciated the yummy and abundant food selections, the expertly made libations, and the great party atmosphere you provided with your excellent servers.  Thank you so much.

One of the highlights of each year's event is the presentation of awards.  Here are the Employees of the Month, Part-Time, with the winners of the Employee of the Year Award for that category:  Left to right:  Kayleigh M, Employee of the Year; Nicole Nadeau, Second Runner-Up for Employee of the Year; Brent Orlowski; Carmen Batista; Adam D'Entremont; and Judy Vienot.

The winner of the  Employee of the Year award was Sarah Dunne.  First Runner-up was Cheryl Ennis and Second Runner-Up was Allison Austin.


During these presentations the team, led by Claire Kallelis, surprised me with the gift of a HUGE bouquet of flowers, and some heartfelt words which almost brought me to tears.  Since I am not leaving the Hotel until April some time, I waved the tears away and said we could save that for later!

While I am passing out thanks, I need to thank Jessica Wright who stepped in to send out the votes, tabulate the votes and do all of the paperwork related to our awards, since my assistant, Kayleigh, was in the running for the award.

I would also like to thank Melissa Kelly and Christine Madigan of our Sales and Catering Departments who gathered together all of the gifts we give out to each employee in attendance at this party (as well as to each team member who has to stay "behind" to keep the hotel running.)

And speaking of that, I would like to offer my deepest thanks and appreciation for those 12 team members who did stay working at the hotel so that the rest of us could have this party.  We appreciate your doing that for us.  (And for those of you who may want to know, we do give each of those team members an extra "something" in addition to that gift because they are working this night.)

Now, fair blog reader, you know just what it takes for "us" to be able to party one night a year.  I hope you enjoy seeing TEAM HAWTHORNE having a good time.
