Halloween Balloon Art

Every year for the Official Salem Witches' Ball, (this year entitle Voodoo Visions) which is produced by the Festival of the Dead, there is decor provided by a fabulous balloon artists, Royal and Patty Sorrell.  We love getting a sneak preview and sharing that with you here.





This year's event is Voodoo In the photos above and below you see the event's creator, Christian Day (on the right.)

The Salem Open Market brings together the area’s most talented indie craftspeople and designers in an open air market setting. Visitors can browse over 50 booths to shop for unusual handmade products from local artists and designers. Derby Square Vending 11am-6pm, Essex Street Vending 11am-10pm.

On this day in 1892, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, by Arthur Conan Doyle, is published. The book was the first collection of Holmes stories, which Conan Doyle had been publishing in magazines since 1887.

Best Group Costume Contest Winners

Here are photos of the party that took place last Saturday night, October 25, here at the Hawthorne Hotel.  These are photos of the costume contest winners for the BEST GROUP.

(1) Tribute to Robin Williams  by Justin Reynolds, Amanda Rinaldo, Tori and Scott Lansing, Tynan Garrett, Gina Sorrell, and Michael Kennedy from various places in New York.










There is a lovely little 'side story" about two members of this group.  There was a surprise proposal that took place in our hotel.  He arranged, with our help, some special touches.  She said YES!!

(2) Corpse Bride and her Zombie Bridesmaids, by Rachel Svosek, Angela Belz, Renata Szulc, Krissy Kowal, Julie Lamothe, Samanth Huerta, April Burek, Crystal Flynn, Lyndsay Patnade, Jenelle Vera and Vanessa Magogneli -- all from Chicopee Massachusetts







(3) Mardi Gras Paper Dolls by Joy Gliddon of Ocean New Jersey and Alicia Spinelli of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey
