New Decor in Our Guest Rooms, and a Nice Change

I am so excited! Starting in March we will be installing new decor throughout the guest rooms of the hotel's main building. We will start on the second floor, and there is more great news about why we are starting there. But first, here are some details about what we are doing.

We will be hanging all new draperies and installing new valances.  We will be reupholstering all of the wing chairs, Martha Washington chairs, desk chairs and benches.  At the same time we will be refinishing all of the case goods (that is hotel-speak for the wooden furniture) so that the look in all our rooms will be fresh and clean and "new".

These boards show the fabrics we will be using in the rooms on the second floor.  Our goal is to create a very residential look to the guest rooms, and for the second floor in particular our goal is to make the rooms all look different, but so they blend together.  The reason for this "blending together" is that the second floor will no longer be a smoking floor, and instead will be called the Essex Wing.  These rooms will be sold first as rooms for groups such as weddings, family reunions, and so on.

So that is the second piece of great news -- the entire main building of the hotel will become a non-smoking building!  That part of work will begin in January.  We will be converting the rooms in the Fidelia Bridges Guest House to be our "smoking" rooms so if you happen to like that perk, those rooms will be available to you.

This is something that has been on our radar screen for awhile, and in the planning process for about a year.  I am very happy to be seeing this particular change coming to fruition.

Stay tuned, as we will update you more as this major project moves along.

I hope to see you here.
