Lady of Salem Maritime Public Art Celebration
September 19 at 9:00am to 5:00pm
Downtown 2 New Liberty Street, Salem, MA
Enjoy a community public art display of over 20 whimsically decorated ship’s figureheads adorning downtown Salem thru a self-guided tour brochure available at the NPS Visitor Center in Salem. “The Lady of Salem”, a unique, public maritime-arts festival in downtown Salem, spearheaded by the Salem Beautification Committee, hails the city's resurgence as New England's original Port of Culture. This nautical influenced street-art collaboration celebrates Salem's rich maritime history, showcases local artists, promotes downtown businesses and beautifies the city.

VIP of the Day
The Hawthorne Hotel would like to welcome their VIP of the day, Edward Meighan!

Flags of the Day
North Dakota

This Day in History
On this day in 1893, New Zealand becomes the first country in the world to grant national voting rights to women. The bill was the outcome of years of suffragette meetings in towns and cities across the country, with women often traveling considerable distances to hear lectures and speeches, pass resolutions, and sign petitions.

I hope to see you here!
