No, it is not something that spritzes you with water in a warm, humid place -- this Tropical Travel Shower is a wedding shower done in a very clever way.
The lucky couple!
Here is the story, as told by Alaina Ferriero, one of our Catering Sales Managers. She is a friend of the bride-to-be:
they (my friends) have just about everything to furnish a house, and, like many couples
these days, they are helping to pay for the wedding, they wanted to have a
different kind of shower. So, they made it known that they would appreciate a honeymoon shower.
This is a new thing some
couples are doing- they set up a honeymoon registry (either with a travel agent
or online) and the guests can simply donate to their “honeymoon fund” or purchase a shore excursion for the couple. (In this way) the couple will be able to start their life together with a
trip of a lifetime. It is also exciting for guests as they know what they are
paying for is going to be something the couple will enjoy and always remember -- something they really, really want.
play off the theme, we decided to have a tropical cocktail party (especially
since there would be fewer gifts to open there is no need to keep everyone in
their seats). We had cocktail-style seating, light stationed brunch items, passed brunch items, a
mimosa and bloody Mary bar, silk flowers for the guests to pin in their hair,
palm trees, bamboo- you name it! I even picked up succulents to put on the
passing trays. We had beautiful and delicious cupcakes made by Sweet Life
Confections of Swampscott- and Mary Barnwell (owner) was even able to replicate
a Pinterest idea that I found to top the cupcakes with a baked pineapple to go
with the theme! You will notice one of the pictures that we had framed showing
“future Mr. & Mrs. Fraser” in the sand. This was something the couple did
when they got engaged on the Cape. We printed it off Facebook to display, so that also matched the theme.
Here is the totally cute invitation:
of the guests were saying this was the best shower they had ever been to; that
the staff and food were incredible and they had a lot of fun. They are all
looking forward to coming back in July for the Hawthorne wedding experience!
