Summer is the Theme, Sailing is the Topic

This month many of our blog posts are about summer.  Can you tell we are happy that it has finally arrived in New England?

Today the topic is sailing, and here are some suggestions that are available right here in Salem, convenient to the Hawthorne Hotel:

1.  Take a ride on the Salem Ferry to Boston, or from Boston to Salem.  Our fast ferry takes about an hour either way, and you get such a nice ride, along a beautiful coastline, and the trip is lightly narrated so you find out what you are seeing.  It is a very reasonably priced way to get out on the water.  Here is the link to their website:  Salem Ferry rates and schedules

Here are a few photos that were taken on this year's inaugural sail, an event hosted by the City of Salem and the Salem Chamber of Commerce:

As you can see, you can even enjoy an adult beverage on the Nathaniel Bowditch, and it is a great place to network and sail at the same time.  Left to right are:  Josh Turiel, Salem City Councilor, Jeff R from New York Life, and our own Thomas MacDonald, Director of Sales of the Hawthorne Hotel.

2.  Another way you can go out on the water is on the Schooner Fame.

3.  And a third way is to take a sail on a Mahi Mahi cruise. Here is the link to their website:

I hope you will make plans to enjoy not only Salem's maritime history, but also its maritime activites.
