This stunning collection of portraits of the young girl, Malala, who spoke up in favor of education for girls and was shot for that opinion, depicts her intelligence, courage and dignity.  Painted by local High School students to honor the Nobel Peace Prize nominee, these compelling works of art are done in various mediums.  Stunning, exhilarating, inspiring!

VIP of the Day
The Hawthorne Hotel would like to welcome their VIP of the day, Jeannette Marie De Los Reyes!

Flags of the Day

This Day in History
On this day in 1896, the Olympic Games, a long-lost tradition of ancient Greece, are reborn in Athens 1,500 years after being banned by Roman Emperor Theodosius I. At the opening of the Athens Games, King Georgios I of Greece and a crowd of 60,000 spectators welcomed athletes from 13 nations to the international competition.

I hope to see you here!
