Another Historic Postcard to Add to Our Collection

I recently found and purchased a historic postcard of the Hawthorne Hotel from eBay. It seems to be a colored-in version of a postcard we wrote about previously—you can look at the post from 2008 here. I had guessed then that the card was from the 1950s, but this colored-in version we just acquired is dated August 20, 1945!

You can click on the images to enlarge them. Just in case you still have some trouble reading it, the text reads:

“Hello folks, I’m having a swell time. Nice spot for a rest. How’s everyone? See you soon. Love, Gerry.”

The Hawthorne is still a “nice spot for a rest,” wouldn’t you agree?

I hope you enjoyed another look at the past, and as always, we hope to see you here!
