A Lovely Valentine's Day Surprise

In December, I told you about the Christmas cards we had made for the residents of two local retirement homes. Lindsay Otis, our Senior Catering Sales Manager, orchestrated the surprise, as she loves to “give back” to our community. So it was no surprise when Lindsay called me about a request that came to her from the Director of Brookhouse to put together another little surprise for Valentine’s Day.

Here is the email Lindsay received:

Hope this finds you well. Patti Rice our Activities Director is planning a Valentine’s Day Celebration for our residents….     When she asked what the residents would like, they replied some good looking men bringing us flowers   J      ( you can’t make this stuff up )…..

So I thought I would reach out and see if any of your male wait staff would be willing to volunteer and stop by for 15-20 minutes to pass out a rose to our residents…

Lindsay arranged for several of our handsome young gentleman (now jokingly named by me as our "Hawthorne Hotties" to deliver flowers and chocolate-covered strawberries to the residents of Brookhouse, a retirement home for women. The round-up included Andy Seidel, our Front Office Manager; Ceni Qoshja and Zak Leete, both Dining Services Supervisors; Colby Boulay, one of our banquet servers; and AJ Grube, one of the servers in Nathaniel's. They all looked great in their Valentine's Day colors, and you can see in the photos below how much the Brookhouse ladies enjoyed the visit!

Yesterday Lindsay received this note from Paul, the Director:

Hello Lindsay,

I just wanted to say hello and thank you for bringing the guys by on Friday. The residents are still talking about how nice that clean cut, handsome young men came by to visit them…

I know some of the staff by stopping at the tavern and they are really nice guys.

Please give them my thanks, they would better know me as Ryan/Matthew/Shauna’s dad, as my children know them all.

 Again, thanks so much

I hope you enjoyed seeing one of the many ways in which we interact with Salem and its great community.

Juli and the Hawthorne TEAM
