Weddings + Time = Anniversaries = History

Last week as I was making table visits in the Tavern I made the acquaintance of a lovely couple and their adult daughter.  In chatting with them I learned that they had been married at the Hawthorne Hotel in 1954.  In fact, they had had their 50th wedding anniversary party here at the Hawthorne Hotel as well, almost 10 years ago -- their anniversary date is in October so they are nearing 60 years together.

As we chatted it became very clear why they have had a successful marriage -- they are both very engaging and happy people.  I learned their names, Mary and Robert Bonefant, and that Mary is a Salem native, and that Robert was from Swampscott.  They still live here in Salem to this day.

I was happily surprised when Mary pulled a photo from her purse, as it was a photo of their wedding reception here at the Hawthorne Hotel.

I asked if I could scan the photo for our archives, and if I could take their photo for this daily diary post, and as you can see I was quickly granted permission.  I think you can tell by these photos the great spirit that exists between this lovely couple, and their daughter, Stephanie Hooper, as well.

I hope you will join me in wishing Mr. and Mrs. Bonefant many more years of wedded bliss, and of course, I hope to see you here!
