Unique Local Artist

If a business can have "friends" the Hawthorne Hotel certainly counts Nick Fader as one of ours.  So when I learned that he has created some new paintings, and is having a small show of them in downtown Salem this weekend, I thought the friendly thing to do would be to tell you, fair blog reader, about this show so you can check it out for yourself.

Here are two images to let you know what kind of show you will see:

When asked about this body of work Nick said, "I often doodle a particular style of cartoon type characters. This body of work began one year ago while looking at some of those sketches. Suddenly I saw something in them that spoke to me. After over 40 years as a plein air painter, I found myself creating this collection of paintings. I appreciate the wonderful response this work has been receiving. The show, at Front St. Café in Salem, will be the first time they have been on display"

Artist’s Profile
A life long resident of Marblehead, Nick has worked in the arts since 1963, first as a
graphic designer for the Gillette company and later as the owner of a large graphic
design and fine art reproduction company.

Throughout his professional life, Nick has maintained an active career as an artist
working in oil and acrylic on paper and canvas. His work has been in the Marblehead
Festival of Arts for the past 20 years, winning the Sam Chamberlain award in 1998. His
work has been on exhibit in solo and group shows throughout the area.

Once you have finished checking out the show, you might want to stop by the Hawthorne Hotel afterwards for a lovely dinner.  The January "Locals' Specials" will be premiering on Sunday night starting at 5 pm.

I hope to see you here, or there.
