Gingerbread Houses and Team Building and "Split Sets"

Last week we hosted a company holiday part in our Grand Ballroom for a Danvers' business.  What this company did seemed like a unique cross between socializing and team-building, and we thought we would share with you a few photos, which might serve as inspiration for your company holiday party.

Staff members were teamed up via a pre-determined matching system, and each team was given a gingerbread house "kit" and encouraged to make the best house that they could.  Houses were judged and prizes given.  Here are some of the entries.

Some groups got really wild and crazy, kidnapping bar fruit, bottle tops and centerpiece flowers for building materials.  It was one of those kinds of events that I wish I could have participated in, along with the guests.

This party was done in what we call a "split set" and what that means is that we divide up the Ballroom into two distinct zones -- one for mixing and mingling over an adult or other libation with some hors d'oeuvres, and the other for the sit-down portion of the event, in this case lunch.
We had a dance floor in the room where the stationed hors d'oeuvres were set up for the reception portion

I hope you enjoy this (slightly) insiders look at one of the myriad holiday parties we do here at the Hawthorne Hotel.  If you have not yet booked your holiday party, there is still time.  Many companies have taken to having these kinds of affairs in January so as not to interrupt their staff members' time with their families.  If you want to check availability, please give us a call at 978-825-4358.

I hope to see you here.
