Giant Pumpkin Arriving at the Hawthorne Hotel

Yesterday was a big day at the Hawthorne Hotel because it was the day that our Giant Pumpkin arrived.  This one was SO BIG that we had to develop yet another strategy for getting it in to the building.



Here are some photos and videos of the process.  The videos are all shot "Vine" style so each one is only six seconds long, but I think when you see all three of them you will get a quick overview of this process.

George Hoomis (left) is a friend of grower Armand Michaud.  They are both from Ipswich MA and grow these giants in their backyards.

George and Armand were happy to see how we dressed up the pumpkin.
Now we can get our "Guess the Weight" of our Giant Pumpkin Contest underway.  This will start on Friday October 11, and will end on Halloween OR BEFORE, depending on how well the pumpkin survives.  This is always a difficult thing to predict, so it will end at our discretion.  The best advice we can give is "guess early".
