However, it occurred to me last week that actually one of the most Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) that we get, over the telephone, is this question: "What is the name of that little Italian restaurant across the street from the Hawthorne Hotel?" People remember it, but cannot always remember the name.
The answer is "Bella Verona" and it is indeed a little Italian restaurant, consisting of about 30 seats at the most, all very cozily next to each other (my husband and I routinely wind up sharing some kind of information with our dinner mates on either side when we dine there.)
My favorite item on their menu is what I call Italian "comfort food" -- straciatella, which is an Italian chicken soup with egg and Parmesan threads in it. So delicious! I also enjoy a chicken salad on their appetizer menu which makes a healthy light dinner.
