Effective August 6, the Garden Restaurant is open Tuesdays in addition to Wednesday through Sunday (and holiday Mondays), 11:30 am–2:30 pm. (Tuesday hours run through September 29, 2013.) The menu changes seasonally, and features entrees, house-made soups, salads and sandwiches. For reservations call 978-745-9500, ext. 3118.

What’s Happening in Salem this week
Seventh-annual Salem Jazz and Soul FestivalThe 2013 Salem Jazz and Soul Festival will take place the weekend of Aug. 17-18 at the Salem Willows. The two day concert will feature performances by 12 bands from the Boston area, New York and northern Vermont. The free festival will also include a music-education tent, a kids’ tent, a 21-plus beer pavilion and more than 30 artists selling hand-made goods. It will run from 11:15 a.m. to 7 p.m. both days
