Perfect Pet Place

Recently we had a darling dog staying with us at the hotel. He is a three-pound poodle.   Every member of the staff who encountered little "Noah" fell in love with him, so as he was leaving we asked to take his photo, which you can see here:

It was not unusual that we received an email for Noah's owner shortly after their departure, but what was a delightful surprise was just how lovely the email was.  I quickly wrote back and asked if I could use the email on our testimonials page, and you can see the entire email "string" below, since I know many of our loyal blog readers love to "read the mail over my shoulder."  In this case you should start at the bottom of this post and read to the top.


Hi Juli

Please by all means use anything you would like from my email.  You people have earned the praise and others should know about this treasure called the Hawthorne Hotel located in Salem.  We hope to make this a regular part of our travel plans each year.  By the way Noah has not stopped playing with the little "witch doggy" he received when we checked in.  He also thanks you!

I just wanted to express my THANKS for a great trip experience.  It was a last minute decision for us to stay at the Hawthorne Hotel.  We knew nothing about it except that the reviews on line were all good.  So we decided to give it a try.  This has to rate as one of the very best pet friendly experiences we have ever had.  It all started when I called the Hotel to make the reservation.  The receptionist was very friendly and made me feel like she wanted us to stay there.  When we checked in we were greeted like old friends.  Our pet was immediately given a toy and we knew from that moment having a pet at the Hawthorne would be no problem at all.

Our  room was charming.  I was concerned at first that all the pet rooms were on the 6th floor.  That usually means (at other places) you get a poorer quality room.    I could see our room was the same as all the other rooms in the hotel except that all the pet people were on the same floor.  I really liked that.  We got to meet some very nice people who also were traveling with their pets.

You should be very proud of your staff (front desk, bell hop, waiter staff in restaurants) EVERYONE was friendly and so willing to help.  My wife and I only travel with our pet so we have been to a number of places.  This has been without a doubt the BEST experience.

We would definitely come back and you can bet we will be singing the praises of the Hawthorne to all our friends !

Thank you for the job you do.  Obviously all runs smoothly at the Hawthorne because it has a good manager.
