Guest Newsletter for Wednesday, June 5

Here is the Hawthorne Guest Messenger for Wednesday, June 5, 2013.

The Hawthorne Hotel would like to welcome our guests from the MIT class of 1948! We hope that you enjoy your stay here with us and have fun celebrating in the company of old friends and classmates. Please let us know if we can help you feel at home in any way!

On Thursday, June 6th, 2013 bartender Jeremy Bogert and server Chuck Tyner, from the 62 Restaurant & Wine Bar on Pickering Wharf, will help to raise money for the annual  “Kids Cancer Buzz-Off” to benefit Boston Children’s Hospital by donating all of their gratuities from that evening to the cause. You can make a difference by visiting 62 Restaurant’s bar where Jeremy will be bartending from 5:00PM to 12:00AM, or indulging in dinner where Chuck will be serving from 5:00PM to 10:00PM. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling (978) 744-0062.

This Day in History
On this date in 1933, the United States went off the gold standard, a monetary system in which currency is backed by gold, when Congress enacted a joint resolution nullifying the right of creditors to demand payment in gold. The United States had been on a gold standard since 1879, except for an embargo on gold exports during World War I.

I hope to see you here!
