PEM/PM Tonight! FREE and worth WAY MORE!!!

NICK CAVE PERFORMANCE INVADES PEM/PM TONIGHT!

AN EVENING OF FREE FORM MUSIC, DANCE & ART
THURSDAY | APRIL 18 | 6:30 – 9:30 PM | FREE

SALEM, MA –– Coming off his acclaimed HEARD performance at New York’s Grand Central Station, artist Nick Cave joins PEM for a night of dance, costuming and music tonight, Thursday, April 18 as part of the PEM/PM evening party series. Cave’s iconic Soundsuits –– otherworldly, wearable sculptures –– will come to life in an exclusive dance performance in PEM’s atrium.  WNYC calls Cave’s Soundsuit performances, “larger than life” and New York Magazine has dubbed the experience, “total communal bliss.”

In the wake of the Boston Marathon attack, admission to tonight’s PEM/PM has been waived and the museum will be collecting donations for One Fund Boston – a fund established to honor the victims. We invite the public to find quiet reflection in our galleries and to join us for a moment of silence in the Atrium at 7:15pm. Nick Cave, who was inspired to create his otherwordly, magical Soundsuits as a response to the LA Riots in the 90s and whose artistic ambition is to “help people to dream again” will be present.

The museum is open late for exploration of the galleries, including PEM’s immersive, kaleidoscopic exhibition, Freeport [No. 006]: Nick Cave.  Kooky Scientist plays electronic tunes in the Atrium, Boston-based multimedia artist Joshua Pablo Rosenstock demonstrates his wearable electronic sound instruments and Modern Millie will be leading a live sketching event with inspired ensembles from their popular Salem clothing shop.
