SLOW DOWN AND TAKE A CLOSER LOOK
SATURDAY | APRIL 27, 2013 | 10am – 2pm
Experience a museum in a whole new way with Slow Art Day at the Peabody Essex Museum (PEM). On Saturday, April 27, PEM joins more than 200 organizations worldwide in inviting visitors to take their time and take a closer look at art. Championed by Michael Kimmelman, chief art critic at the New York Times, Slow Art Day is part of a grassroots movement that encourages people to take a break from their busy lives and delve deeply into select works of art, enhancing critical thinking through the act of careful looking.
This Day in History: On April 10, 1971, the
U.S. table tennis team begins a weeklong visit
to the People's Republic of China
at the invitation of China's
communist government. The well-publicized trip was part of the PRC's attempt to
build closer diplomatic relations with the United
States, and was the beginning of what some pundits in the
referred to as "ping-pong diplomacy."
I hope to see you here!
