FREE Bicycle Use -- How Cool Is This?

For another year we are partnering with the City of Salem to provide free bicycle "day rentals" for anyone who would like to use these bikes.

The bikes are provided by the City, and the Hawthorne Hotel provides the service of checking them out to the users who want to borrow them.

There are a couple of caveats:

1.  You must be 18 years old.
2.  You must have a valid CREDIT CARD (Debit Cards do not work for this program)
3.  You must have a valid photo ID issued by a government entity.  License, passport or similar.
4.  You have to do a bit of paperwork, and agree to wear the helmet that is provided.

In order to get started, pick out the bike that appears to fit you best.  We do have tools that you can borrow to adjust the seat heights, if need be, but if you don't need to fool with that, why bother?

Come in to the hotel with your required "stuff" and go to the front desk.  Please understand that our guests have first priority for our time, so you may need to be patient while you wait to be helped.  This is a service we are doing on a volunteering-to-help-the-community basis, so we have to do our paid work first.

Please also keep in mind that we did not make the rules for this service -- the City of Salem did -- so if you don't agree or like any of them, please do not vent your concerns with our clerks.  We would so much appreciate this, so that we keep wanting to offer this voluntary service.  No one wants to deal with an unhappy person!

Fill out the required paperwork, get your helmet, key to the lock, and take off!

Have fun enjoying Salem by bicycle.

Remember, this is available to both local residents and visitors from out of town.

We hope to see you here.

Juli
