Children, Art, the Kensington-Stobart Gallery, and the Hawthorne Hotel

Hmmm. . . . what could all those topics have in common?  The answer is a really cool new special exhibit at the Kensington-Stobart Gallery here at the Hawthorne Hotel.

Katy Bratun is a Salem resident who happens to be a children's books artist-- for 30 books according to her website, which is linked right here:  http://katybratun.com/

From now through May 13 the Kensington-Stobart Gallery will feature a display of her work, right here in the hotel.  In addition to being able to buy her artwork, you can also pick up copies of many of her books, and I learned that you will be given a book when you purchase a piece of her art.  How fun is that?!!

Come in to the Gallery and you can draw something too.

The process as explained by Katy

Here are a number of her works which are for sale, ranging in price from $75 to $3,500, with the majority of these original works of art, framed, for under $800.

If you have a child, grandchild, niece or nephew, or if you just like whimsical art, you cannot miss this show.  It will make you happy just to stop in to the Gallery.

Katy also is in the process of making this papier mache bear.  Too cute!

Here is Katy with "The Rabbits' Carnival" -- one of her books.

In addition to a normal gallery display, Katy, along with K-S Gallery owner Sandy Heaphy, have plans for a number of hands-on activities.  Here is the plan:

If you click on the graphic it will enlarge it in case you need to make it bigger to read it better.

One more cool thing -- Katy also has created a line of cool coffee mugs and many other things, all with her artwork on them.  You can see them, and better yet, buy them at Katy Bratun Coffee Mugs and Such

I hope to see you here, or there.

Juli
