This
Day in History:
On
this day in 1876, Alexander Graham Bell patented his amazing new device - the
telephone. Bell had ties to Salem , and in May, 1877 gave a public
demonstration of his telephone in the building that is now the nearby
restaurant 43 Church. Bell established
communication with his assistant, Mr. Watson, in Boston ,
who sang “Auld Lang Syne” to the Salem
audience while the audience joined in the chorus.
I
hope to see you here!
Juli
