What’s Happening in Salem and the North Shore Today:
  • From 3pm to 8pm today, The Nightmare Gallery on Derby Street will transform from the top Monster Museum in New England to Salem’s terrifying #1 Haunted House! Stop by before 3pm to see this awesome homage to vintage horror films and monsters everywhere, or go after dark for the scary shocks! 
  • Tonight beginning at 7:15pm at the House of the Seven Gables, relive the events of 1692 when the Salem Witch Trials wrought havoc on Salem. Encounter magistrate John Hathorne as well as the accused and their accusers in this interactive dramatic experience. Performances begin every five minutes and last approximately 35 minutes.
  • Tonight The Salem Haunted Magic Show will take place in the Hawthorne Hotel Library at 8pm and 10pm. You will witness incredible magic, mental ism and hear some spooky stories from Salem and the Hawthorne’s elusive history. The Library is located on our Basement level.
  • The Halloween Finale Fireworks will take place tonight at 10:00pm at the top of nearby Washington Street. Weather permitting, this event is the official end to Salem’s Halloween season.
  • Looking for a local Halloween party? The following nearby restaurants are hosting costume bashes with live music, dancing and prizes! Finz and Victoria Station on Pickering Wharf, 43 Church on Church Street, and Rockafellas on Washington Street!

 Hotel Notes

Today is Salem Common Family Fun Day on the Salem Common, located directly across the street
from the Hawthorne Hotel, from 11:00am to 5:00pm. This fun event for the whole family will feature
interactive inflatables, games, entertainers and more!

Our full breakfast menu will be available today from 7am to 10am in Nathaniel’s, located in our lobby. There will also be a buffet style breakfast available from 9:00am to 1:00pm, also in Nathaniel’s. Prices for the buffet are as follows: Adults $16.95, children under 12 $9.95, children under 3 are free.  Tavern on the Green will be open for lunch at 11:00am and remain open until 11:00pm. Dinner will also be available in Nathaniel’s, our fine dining restaurant, from 5:00pm to 9:00pm.


What’s Happening in Salem and the North Shore Today: 


Today from noon until 6pm is Wicked Weekend at the Witches House. Located nearby on 7 Lynde Street, this event features entertainment, face painting, complimentary balloon animals by “The Balloon Kid” and appearances by Hell Boy, Beetlejuice, zombies, witches and more. T-Shirt and postcard giveaways to those waiting in line!

Swag Bags For Our Guests

Yesterday a bunch of us got together in the Ballroom to put together the Swag Bags that are part of every guest's experience during the Halloween Ball Weekend here at the Hawthorne Hotel.

Here are some photos for you to enjoy.  A few of the items are available for sale at the front desk of the Hawthorne Hotel.  Once we get past this crazy week we may make a few items available for sale on our website.

Hotel Notes

The wait is almost over. The Hawthorne Hotel’s Spectacular Halloween Ball, Solstice of Souls, is tomorrow, Saturday, October 27th. This is the event that should be on everyone's "Bucket List". Every year this ball is attended by approximately 1,000 costumed party-goers. Featuring cocktail-style food served all night long, two photo stations, a live band and two DJs for entertainment, cash bars and beer buckets available until the end of the party, a costume contest with cash prizes, and three floors of fun and entertainment. Tickets are still available at $90 each. This event is 21+. See the front desk or call 978-744-4080 for more details!

What’s Happening in Salem Tonight

  • Tonight The Salem Haunted Magic Show will take place in the Hawthorne Hotel Library at 8pm and 10pm. You will witness incredible magic, mental ism and hear some spooky stories from Salem and the Hawthorne’s elusive history. The Library is located on our Basement level.

  • Tonight at 9:30pm Victoria Station on nearby Pickering Wharf will be hosting their annual Zombie Prom! Dress as a zombie and come celebrate on the waterfront! This event features pictures at guest arrival, giveaways and prizes, non-stop dance party and of course the prom King and Queen will be crowned at the end of the night.
