Supporting Salem State University

We are so fortunate here in Salem, MA to have so many things that make a community vibrant -- a world-class university, an excellent medical center/hospital, a unique tourism destination, wonderful restaurants, interesting historic neighborhoods, a variety of waterfront venues, an amazing museum, all right here in our small city.

One of the things that I get to do in my job is to provide an interface for the Hawthorne Hotel with many of these entities, and this month it was Salem State University's turn.

Two weeks ago I was a guest lecturer for Prof. Mindy Jeon's hospitality class at SSU.  The class is HRI201 Hotel Operations Management, which is part of the Hospitality Management Program (concentration) in the Management Department at the Bertolon School of Business there.  The class consists of a few Sophomores, but mostly Juniors or Seniors.

This week I invited that same class of students to tour the Hawthorne Hotel with me.  They got to see both the front of the house, or publicly-accessible areas, as well as the heart of the hotel (or back of the house) and they seemed to enjoy it all.

Here is a photo of the group, which I took while we were in the Library at the end of our tour.  I thought that those who braved some awful weather to travel from their campus to the Hotel for the tour (and who all arrived on time) deserved a little of our Hawthorne Hotel "blog love."

Here are, left to right, Prof. Mindy Jeon with students, Jordan, Keith, Wislande, Brittany, Carlo, Leanne, Joe, Yoko, Takumi, Sarah, and Cassie.
I hope you enjoy knowing a little bit more about what we do here at the Hawthorne Hotel to support the Salem community.

We hope to see you here.
