Five Not-to-Miss Places to Visit in Salem

If you come for a visit to Salem we want you to know what our top picks are for a good visit. Here is the short list:

5.  The Phillips Trust House.  Located at 34 Chestnut Street, this preserved home  with original furnishings is a great snapshot of a time and way of living that we all seem to enjoy seeing.  Don't miss their collection of antique cars as well.  Here is some more information:  Phillips Trust House

4.  The Salem Witch Museum.  No visit to Salem is complete without a stop to find out what the story is all about.  Located right across the street from the Hawthorne Hotel makes this a super-convenient place to visit.  Here is a link to their website: Salem Witch Museum Website

3.  The Friendship.  Our "tall ship" is a replica but one that is exceedingly well done.  Just walk down Hawthorne Blvd to Derby Street and turn left.  You will see her off to the left, just a couple of blocks away.  The Friendship

2.  The House of the Seven Gables.  The house that Nathaniel Hawthorne wrote about in his famous book, along with his boyhood home which was moved to the site, beautiful gardens, and a great seaside location make this a terrific place to visit.

1.  The Peabody Essex Museum (PEM).  Located just one block from the Hawthorne Hotel, this museum of Art and Culture encompasses so many different collections, special shows, antique homes including one from China, and a great gift shop, along with two good places to eat.  Open Tuesdays through Sundays, this is the one place I think you should not miss.

I hope to see you here, or there.
