Beautiful Award

Last night I was honored by the Salem Chamber of Commerce at their 100th birthday party, as Salem's Businesswoman of the Year for 2011. I was delighted to say the least, both with the recognition, and with the beauty of the award itself which was made by John Volpacchio, a glass artist in residence at the Enterprise Center of Salem State University. The award was etched by another Salem artist, Jack Walsh, of Dancing Sand. I thought you might enjoy seeing it, but I can assure you it is even more beautiful in person.

For the past 13 years I have held the position of General Manager of the historic Hawthorne Hotel, having come here to assume this role. I believe that I have the longest tenure of any GM at this property, and part of the reason for my long tenure is the fact that I really enjoy the business community in Salem.

I would like to offer my sincere thank you to the Chamber, and to those members who voted for me, and to the entire TEAM of the Hawthorne Hotel who support what I do every day.

 I am indeed honored.

  1. And I would like to offer my sincerest congratulations to you on this very well-deserved recognition by the Salem Chamber of Commerce! I think that anyone who has ever stayed at the Hawthorne Hotel knows how hard both you and your fantastic staff work to make their visit as memorable and special as possible and they would no doubt join me in offering congratulations on the presentation of this wonderful award. I look forward to seeing it in person someday!
