A (new) Raving Fan From Chicago


This review was recently posted on an on-line review site called Yelp.  I thought you might enjoy seeing something that makes my day start off with a big smile.  As managers of the Hawthorne Hotel, we are all always trying to impress on our team members that we are in the "hospitality business", not the "hotel business" and it sure appears that the message is being translated into exactly these kinds of actions.

I hope you will come by too, to enjoy some hospitality, Hawthorne Hotel-style.

I preface this review by stating that I have not had the pleasure (yet) of being a guest at the Hawthorne Hotel. However I am prompted to write a review based on the wonderful service I received as a guest of Salem MA.

After a day of sight seeing I wanted to hop a taxi back to Medford, MA. The staff at the Hawthorne were extremely helpful. They called a taxi for me, and offered me a seat in the lounge. When my taxi had not arrived fifteen minutes later, they called again. They also sold me stamps for my Salem Witch Museum postcards and directed me to the nearest mailbox (inside the hotel). Never at ANY time did I feel as if I was bothering them, or imposing since I was not an actual guest.

They are a pet friendly hotel, and NOT a "one dog under 25lbs for $100 per night" type of pet friendly. TRULY pet friendly, just $10 per dog per night, all dogs welcome. They also have mother/daughter teas in the spring, as well as other events.

If you are looking for a type of "old world charm" Hawthorne Hotel is the perfect place to stay. I will be a guest during my next trip to Salem.
