Hawthorne Hotel's Flags of the Week ~~ December 5 through 11, 2011

*Every night our overnight custodian goes outside to change two flags on the front of the Hawthorne Hotel.  Then he posts a small fact sheet about the chosen Country and the chosen State in the lobby, next to the elevators.  The flags are of the countries of the United Nations, and the States and related entities of the USA.
We rotate them in alphabetical order, unless we have a special request.

Monday,    December 5 Venezuela and Missouri
Tuesday,    December 6 Viet Nam and Montana
Wednesday,    December 7 Yemen and Nebraska
Thursday,  December 8 Zambia and Nevada
Friday, December  9 Zimbabwe and New Hampshire
Saturday, December 10 France* and Connecticut*
Sunday, December 11 Afghanistan and New Jersey

Saturday's flags are by special request.

If you have a special request, be sure to call us and ask.  We are usually able to honor most requests, but we accept them on a first-come basis.  Please call 978-825-4444, or 825-4322, and do leave us a message if you do not get an answer.

I hope to see you here.

Juli

*In case of very inclement weather, which might impact the safety of the custodian, or the flags, we take the flags in for the night.  Usually we are able to hang them in the morning in cases like that, but we always consider safety first.

  1. I find it interesting that you rotate the flags rather than having set flags - but - do you ever encounter any problems as a result of flying particular flags?

Generally in Poland, the only flags flown will be the Polish and the European Union one - it's rare to see other flags flying.

And do you refuse to fly any flags?
