Chef Steve Nelson & Sous Chefs Win An Award

Yesterday I went to the Stars of the Industry award luncheon at the Omni Parker House Hotel with our Executive Chef, Steve Nelson. At the luncheon Steve and all of the sous chefs of the Hawthorne Hotel were recognized for their accomplishments towards Diversity in the Workplace by the Massachusetts Lodging Association.
The award recognized the culinary team for their participation in a program with Salem High School that gives special education students who are done with their basic high school classes the opportunity to do a work internship program in local businesses and institutions like Salem State College and North Shore Medical Center. If you read this blog regularly, you will know that we already featured two of our students in this blog a couple of months ago.
The Prism Diversity Award is a new award this year, and we were honored to be the first recipient.
Now Chef Steve will be entered in the National Stars of the Industry Award competition, so we all wish him the best in this as well.
I hope you enjoy learning a little bit more about all the different things we do a the Hawthorne Hotel to make our community a better place for us all.
