Hawthorne Hotel's Flagpole Climbed By the Best

The line that carries the American flag up the flagpole on our roof snapped in a bad windstorm a couple of weeks ago. Since then we have been waiting for a calm, non-rainy, not-so-cold, not-snowing day to get it replaced.

Today was the day, so despite it being Christmas Eve, thanks to the good folks at American Steeple and Tower here in Salem, MA. the job was done.

I hope you enjoy seeing the photos of how this scary job took place.

They lashed a big ladder to the flagpole, and kept tying it to the flag pole as they climbed to the top. Once there, threading the new rope was quickly accomplished, and as you can see in the last photo, the flag of the United States of America is once again flying proudly atop the historic Hawthorne Hotel.

I hope to see you here.
