Hawthorne Hotel Picnic Enjoys a Fabulous Picture-Perfect Day

This week we got together to celebrate summer together, at our annual picnic held at Camp Naumkeg here in Salem. The weather was PERFECT, and we all had a great time.

Here are some photos of the event.

Liz Dube, our Banquet Manager, with her darling new daughter who got to try cotton candy for the first time. She was dubious at first, but really got into it quickly, and caused a great deal of laughter for us all.

The face painter is always popular. This youngster's face is simply beautiful, with our without her "cat's-like" face painting.

A spirited volleyball game helped both adults and children work up a healthy appetite for the traditional barbecue buffet, as well as for the Ice Cream Truck that came to dispense endless goodies to all.

This young man got so into the pie eating contest that he literally lifted his body off the ground and used his stomach muscles to hold himself in place on the table. Needless to say, he was the winner of the 3- to 6-year old age group.

Kelly Ann won the 7- to 13-year old contest, pronouncing the chocolate mousse 'pie' YUMMY!!

These young men were playing 'air' guitar and other instruments, while enjoying their burgers and dogs.

Spiderman was a hit with this young man when it came to the face painter.

The 'sponge' relay was also a huge hit. You had to empty your team's bucket of water by carrying a sponge full of it to the other side of the field. I think these young ones slept well that night!
