Ropes Mansion Gardens

This year I thought I would introduce you to Dexter Beattie, who is the head gardener for the gardens of the PEM at the Ropes Mansion.

This lovely old home and its gardens are part of the PEM's collections, and the gardens are open to the public.

I usually walk through them on my way to work each morning to start my day with a look at all the lovely flowers.

Dexter and his crew have had a very difficult year so far. The weather simply has not been kind to gardeners and farmers, with record rainfall making it very difficult to get the right mix of sunshine so that flowers will bloom. In spite of that, the gardens look lovely, as you can see in these photos.

I hope you enjoy visiting the Ropes Gardens on your next visit to Salem. They are located on Essex Street, just up from the Witch House, at 318. Here are some links to related websites: www.ropescorner.com/mansion1.html and www.PEM.org.

I look forward to seeing you when you come to visit Salem and the Ropes Mansion and Gardens.
