Norton G. Zieff plays Sunday Jazz Brunch at the Hawthorne Hotel
Norton Zieff and company plays for our Hawthorne Hotel Sunday Jazz Brunch
Norton started his training on the clarinet at the age of 8, and then studied the saxophone beginning at age 15. He trained at the Weltman Conservatory and the New England Conservatory, studying classical music. He also studied jazz saxophone with famous musician, Tony Viola.
In addition to the expected stints at fine restaurants, hotels, automobile debuts, and museums, Norton played as a teenager in a USO band in the 40's, and had a band in the Army in the 50's. He describes his style as Manhattan-style jazz, blues and Brazilian. About his playing, Norton likes to say that his songs are clean and recognizable.
